Anthony Fung is a Canadian-born drummer, composer, producer, and bandleader currently based in Los Angeles, CA. He has established himself as an accomplished musician, earning multiple degrees and performing at renowned festivals and venues worldwide.

Anthony is an alumnus of the prestigious Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance, where he earned a master of music (M.M.) degree while studying and performing with Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Chris Potter, Billy Childs, and many others. Prior to this, he obtained both his bachelor's (B.M.) and another master's (M.M.) degree from Berklee College of Music, mentored by the esteemed Danilo Pérez. 

Anthony has appeared at the Monterey Jazz Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, Toronto Jazz Festival, Panama Jazz Festival, International Jazz Day (St. Petersburg and Havana), and other festivals throughout North America and internationally. He has performed alongside Terrace Martin, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Wiz Khalifa, Common, Danilo Pérez, John Patitucci, Joe Lovano, Miguel Zenón, John Beasley, George Garzone, David Binney, Grace Kelly, Cyrille Aimée, and Alicia Olatuja, among many others.

As a bandleader, Anthony released his debut album, Chronicles, with the Anthony Fung Quintet in 2014. He followed it with Flashpoint (2018), which received a 4-star review and was named one of DownBeat Magazine's "Best Albums of 2019 & 2020," as well as a feature on WBGO's "New Music by Five Composers behind the Drums." He later released What Does It Mean to Be Free? (2022), the EP New World, FO(U)RTH, featuring renowned saxophonist Mark Turner, and most recently, the guitar trio album Common Language.

Anthony has received numerous awards, grants, and commissions throughout his career. He was the recipient of the 2020 Angel City Jazz Festival New Note Commission Award, through which he composed a 30-minute work inspired by Chinese immigration in Los Angeles. His honors also include a Jazz Foundation of America Grant, the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) Public Art Award, where his composition Resilience was selected for exhibition in a Curatorial Showcase, and the Best Arrangements Prize at the 7 Virtual Jazz 8th Edition worldwide juried competition.

Aside from performing, Anthony is an accomplished composer and producer. His compositions can be heard in the feature documentary The Last Tourist on Apple TV, Season 3 of Craig Robinson's Hulu series Your Attention Please, as well as in his commissioned work for the Los Angeles Jazz Society, The Chinese Immigration Suite (2020).

Currently, Anthony is a faculty member at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, where he shares his knowledge and passion for music with the next generation of musicians.
